*Conde de Siruela Crianza 2006

The most glamorous and, by far , most expensive, Spanish wine is the Vega Sicilia. This Ribera del Duero is grown not too far from where that originates, in the Valladolid area. While, obviously, not on the same level, it's neverthelees a very superior wine. Austere, reserved, but still with a delightful combination of plum and black cherry, with cedarwood elements it has a delightful balance. Considering that it sells for roughly 1% of what a Vega Sicilia would set you back, it's a stupendous bargain at $11.99. Stock up!
