To those of you who have followed my ramblings -- Last September I had a bad fall (of the vertical, not the seasonal kind) and fractured my back. I've recovered to some extent, but not completely, so that I'm not driving and have to walk with the help of a walker. This is hardly ideal for winkling out new wines, so that, with many regrets, I've concluded that I can no longer keep my wine blog going. As for what I'd hoped to accomplish, it now seems certain that the PLCB will long outlive me. Thank you, one and all, for reading my often disconnected musings, anD God bless you all.

Thank you for the work you put into your musings, while not a wine guy myself I have found your blog interesting and informative. I hate to lose a solid public supporter of privatization I fully understand your reasons. Take care, get better and have faith that we may kill the PLCB well before our time is up.

Thanks for your blog. I came across it one while searching for a wine review. I moved back to PA over a year ago after working in the wine industry in NC and AZ and too found it disappointing (I had forgotten). I hope that time and patience heal and that you have someone to go wine shopping for you!! All the best, Amy

Paul - I'm very sorry to hear about your accident and your current condition. I'll miss your blog immensely. I hope you can make it to a village in southern France or Spain where you can shuffle easily down to the local café and quaff some robust country wine - privately bought and sold of course - George

First of all, Paul, I'm very sorry to hear about your accident. I understand why you need time off from the blog, and sincerely wish you and yours nothing but the best.

As your biggest fan, I take the loss of your blog especially hard. I am finding it difficult to put into words exactly how I feel, but know this: you will be missed. My friend, you have done us all a great service over the past few years, often I would scour the wine shelves for a 'frugal wine' as I called it, and more often than not your musings were spot on. I will look back on these memories fondly.

If there is one piece of advice that has truly helped me over the years, it is that this too shall pass. Life is sure to throw obstacles such as this in our path, yet we can overcome them. Never forget this, my friend. For I believe that in time, you'll be back to your old blogging, wine quaffing self. This is not a farewell, but a see you later, so to speak.

You have no idea the lives you've touched, and the days you've brightened, through this blog, and you likely never will. For every comment on this page thanking you, a dozen more fans remain silent. So, on behalf of all of these, and on behalf of my self (most of all): I thank you.

Godspeed and God Bless,
Frank Merlot

I recently returned from CA where I spend my winters. That means I left what I describe as a wine purchaser's heaven. Everyone sells wine. The prices are on-line. Wine sales abound.
Now, to my horror, I am back to the PLCB.
I used your reviews as a guide to my purchases. Now, I will have to go it alone.
I wish you Godspeed in your recovery.

Very sorry to read this just as I had discovered your blog! Couldn't you write something about our common interest, Romanesque churches, instead?
