Domaine Terlato & Chapoutier Shiraz/Viognier 2007
This wine is truly multinational, being the result of a Franco-Californian cooperation and grown in Australia. The grape combination is a conscious imitation of Rhone practice, and it does resemble a Cote Rotie in some ways. It is distinguished by a strong red berry flavor with a very peppery note and hints of chocolate. Not available in PA presently, but it sells in NJ for about $17.

I beg to differ on this one. The Domaine Terlato & Chapoutier Shiraz-Viogner is available in PA and has been since early November of last year. If you use product code #20870 on the PLCB's product search page you will be able to track some down. Also, the bottle is priced at 12.99 as part of the Chairman’s Selection. Guess New Jersey can't win them all, eh? I will even add the link for you.

While i may disagree with some of your posts, all in all this is a great read! Cheers

I'm glad to stand corrected, although I can't find this wine among the present PA holdings. Anyway, could you enlighten me, Viognier, to my knowlege, is always used for white wine. What is going on here? Thanks.
If I understand the question, a small amount (~5%) of viogner blended with syrah/shiraz can add a lovley floral quality to the nose while retaining the body. An excellent, if expensive, example I tried was Arrowood from CA.
